There are plenty of hotels to stay in Washington, but our recommended conference hotel will be the Holiday Inn, Georgetown, with preferable rates for delegates, and a really great location.
Georgetown, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Washington, DC, served as a major port and commercial center during colonial times because of its prime location on the Potomac River. Today, Georgetown is a vibrant community with upscale shops, bars and restaurants along its cobblestone streets. Many of the homes along the tree-lined streets are 200 year-old restored row houses with beautiful gardens. An afternoon of shopping and lunch on the central "M Street" provides the chance for relaxation if you are able to add a couple days onto your visit. Most shops stay open late at night, and with an eclectic variety of chain stores and boutiques, there is something to please everybody. Stores range from high end designers to the Gap, as well as local souvenir shops. In addition, there are multiple delis,
bookshops and coffee shops offering a quick and easy lunch. Visit the Georgetown Cupcake, featured on the TLC show DC Cupcakes, or for those with a darker taste, there's the house used for filming The Exorcist on Prospect Street. Touring the campus of Georgetown University is the perfect end to an afternoon.
The Holiday Inn, Georgetown is located at 2101 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC, 20007 United States
Extract from their website: "The hotel's location is ideal if you have business in the area. The most popular spots, such as Capitol Hill, the White House, Smithsonian museums, Washington Monument and the National Zoo, are all just minutes away. Getting around is easy, too, since we offer a free shuttle that can take you to local shops, restaurants and the Red Line Metro station. Or you can ride the DC Circulator Bus, which costs $1.00 and stops at many attractions, as well as our hotel in Georgetown."
