Rebecca leads External Relations to support and enhance the University’s reputation by managing a range of activities in order to attract students, staff and funding to the University. These activities include Student Recruitment and Admissions, Marketing, Communications, Public affairs, Web and Creative Services, Alumni relations and fundraising.

The University of Dundee is an international institution with distinctly Scottish roots, home to over 16,000 students and 3500 staff, drawn from over 140 countries around the world.

Dundee has considerable strengths in teaching, research and innovation, a `triple-intensive’ university.

They are among the best in the world at ensuring their research has real impact in society, including on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. They rank top in the UK and 5th in the world for climate action, measuring universities’ research on climate change, their use of energy and their preparations for dealing with the consequences of climate change (Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2021)

Dundee’s economic impact has been measured as contributing around £750 million every year to the Scottish economy. The university ranked 6th in UK and 1st in Scotland for the total value of spinout companies over the last two decades (GovGrant University Spinout Report 2021)

They are a founding partner of V&A Dundee and are actively engaged in the plans to establish a new Eden Project in the city.

The University of Dundee has over 200 active agreements with international partners from over 15 countries globally. These encompass a wide range of activity from international student exchange, Joint PhDs to articulation agreements and dual degree arrangements. Among these is a smaller number of Strategic Partners where the university has built relationships which cover a range of activities in different academic disciplines or are complex in nature.

The University’s partnerships can be summaries as: working with existing partners to deepen and develop partnership arrangement into Strategic Partnerships leading to increased benefits for both partners, particularly focusing on partnerships within China, MENA, Malaysia, Singapore and North America.

The University’s core purpose is ‘to transform lives locally and globally’. They focus their collective energy across four interdisciplinary challenge-led themes, which enables thier research to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals and make a positive contribution to tackle challenges ranging from health, climate change, food security to poverty and social justice.

The University of Dundee received several Athena SWAN Bronze Departmental Awards for Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing, Life Sciences and the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHiD) facilities.

In 2015 the University of Dundee’s work in advancing gender equality across the institution was recognised with two more Athena SWAN Brozne Awards for its work in Engineering, Physics and Mathematics and in Computing. These awards recognise commitment and success in developing practices to support the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) in academia.
