About the University of Surrey

Set within a beautiful and vibrant campus, just 34 minutes from central London, the University of Surrey is a research-intensive university providing exceptional teaching and practical learning in order to inspire and empower over 16,000 students, 37 per cent of which are international, for personal and professional success. In 2017, we were awarded ‘Gold’ in the UK’s Teaching Excellence Framework, showing that our University’s consistently outstanding teaching is of the highest quality in the UK.

We are one of the UK’s strongest professional, scientific and technological universities, which, through world class research and innovation, delivers transformational impact on society and helps shape the future digital economy through agile collaboration and partnership with businesses, governments and communities.

International partnerships

Our global outlook and impact is supported by a rich network of strategic partnerships with like-minded institutions around the world. For example, the University Global Partnership Network (UGPN) is a collaboration with the Universities of Sao Paulo, North Carolina State and Wollongong, which supports sustainable world-class research, education and knowledge transfer for the benefit of global society. The UGPN has propelled forward 45 research projects in areas such as antimicrobial resistance, air pollution and climate change.

We are also very proud of our China relationship with the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics based in Dalian.
