Jo Pinson - Director of Corporate Marketing & Communications

Jo Pinson joined The University of Surrey in January 2013. She initially was responsible for the Student Marketing & Faculty Teams, this then extended to cover the Brand and Digital teams.

In 2018 she was made Director of Corporate Marketing & Communications - responsible for leading the charge to raise brand awareness and engagement locally, nationally and internationally with key audiences. Jo also has responsibility for the brand (brand management and reputation protection), content, creative and digital teams. Prior to this, she worked in Retail Marketing specialising in fashion retail, beauty and luxury goods.

The UGPN has propelled forward 45 research projects in areas such as antimicrobial resistance, air pollution and climate change.

We are also very proud of our China relationship with the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics based in Dalian.

To support our research priorities, we’re looking for ambitious and truly talented researchers to join us on our journey.

  1. Our Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing is an internationally recognised leader in audio-visual machine perception research.
  2. Working with Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd, we have recently launched the RemoveDEBRIS project, researching active ways to clear up space debris.
  3. The QS World University Rankings 2018 ranked our School of Hospitality and Tourism 4th in the word. The school has a particular focus on sustainable tourism.
  4. The Surrey Sleep Research Centre is home to forward-thinking multidisciplinary approaches to pre-clinical and clinical sleep research, using a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment to monitor, record and analyse sleep patterns and sleep disorders
  5. In 2015, our world-class 5G Innovation Centre was opened to pioneer the next generation of wireless telecommunication technologies.
  6. In 2015, we opened our vet school, one of only eight in the UK featuring exceptional clinical skills facilities and one of the best veterinary pathology centres in Europe.
