The University of Vienna is one of the top research universities in Europe. With around 11,000 employees, including approximately 7,700 academic staff, the University of Vienna is Austria’s largest research institution and at the same time the country’s largest educational institution. Its 20 faculties and centres are home to approximately 85,000 students from Austria and around the world. With 185 degree programmes, the university offers the most diverse range of studies in Austria.
In international higher education and subject-specific rankings, the University of Vienna ranks among the top 100 universities and in the top 4% of universities worldwide. Johannes SorzSenior Adviser for Research and International Affairs
Johannes Sorz serves as Senior Policy Officer and Senior Adviser for Research and International Affairs at the Rector’s Office of the University of Vienna, a role in which he supports the rectorate in strategic development. He oversees internal research funding schemes that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and the efficient use of research infrastructure. As Co-Director of Reputation Management, he acts as the university’s liaison to international ranking agencies, providing data analyses and strategic insights on ranking outcomes for the university’s leadership. Furthermore, he serves as contact point for issues related to foreign interference and research security, and as a liaison to various university associations and the University of Vienna’s strategic partners in Europe and the US.
