Peter is Head of Strategic Marketing and Communications at Queen’s University Belfast. He is responsible for Strategic Planning, Market Insight, Advertising and Marketing Campaigns to position Queen’s as a global leader in education and research, delivering a world class experience for our students and continuing to drive the future economic growth of Northern Ireland with impact on global society.

Queen’s University Belfast is the UK’s ninth oldest university, originally founded as Queen’s College in 1845, but with roots tracing as far back as 1810. World-renowned poet and Queen's alumnus Seamus Heaney won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995. Northern Ireland’s former First Minister and Queen's graduate, Lord Trimble, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1998.

Throughout the University, their leading research academics are collaborating across disciplines and with outsides agencies and institutions on projects of world significance.
Over the past 10 years, Queen’s University has invested over $10m in China-related research in areas such as sustainable energy, information technology, food security and cancer research.
The University is in collaboration with Dubai Healthcare City, with the aim to develop the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and recently established a major new partnership in China with the China Medical College – Queen’s University Joint College (CQC). This joint venture will deliver cutting-edge education in Pharmaceutical Sciences, based in Shenyang.

Besides being a member of the prestigious Russell Group, a collaboration of the UK’s 24 leading research-intensive universities, the University has received many awards and rankings for its research excellence.
According to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, Queen’s produces internationally leading research, receiving joint 8th place in the UK for its research intensity. Over 75% of research activity at Queen’s, particularly within the fields of food security, education, pharmacy, health, modern languages, astrophysics, engineering, cybersecurity, English, and history, was judged to be internationally-excellent or world-leading.
14 of the individual areas of research assessed were ranked in the top 20 within the UK, with six of these in the top ten, and two in the top five.
